Today our hearts are heavy. Our beloved Wanda Lou Blocker has gone to heaven. A funeral service will be held at the 1st Christian Church of Perry on June 14th beginning at 11 a.m. Burial will follow at Grace Hill Cemetery also of Perry. Dinner for the family will be served after the service. Minister Alan Dunn will officiate. Casket Bearers will include Jimmy Turner, Michael Hefner, Dewayne Matt Lee, Shane Mills, Jesse McHughes, and Waylon Bolay. Wanda Blocker will lie in state at Brown-Dugger Funeral Home of Perry on Wednesday and Thursday from 9 a.m. until 8 p.m. Friends are welcome to pay their respects then or join the family at a reception at the funeral home on Thursday evening from 6 until 8 p.m.
Wanda was born on September 13, 1952 in Perry to William Joseph Graham and Avelina Cora Ward Graham. She grew up with a large happy family. She attended Red Rock schools up until the 10th grade. In 1977, Wanda met the love of her life, Douglas Blocker. On April 21, 1978 at the Lutheran Church of Perry they were joined in holy matrimony. The couple enjoyed 41 years of wedded bliss.
Wanda wanted a big family of her own and Douglass never denied her a thing. Together they raised five children. She enjoyed cooking and drinking coffee. She had a nack for catching catfish and made the best pies in the world and potato salad.
She was reunited in heaven with her parents, several siblings and 2 great grandbabies Celeste Maner and Easton Maner.
She leaves behind to cherish her memory her husband, Douglas of the home, son Steward Bode of Perry, Son Brian Blocker and his wife Jennifer of Oilton, Son Jesse Blocker and his wife Amber of Perry, daughter Brenda Hotson and her husband Jason of Perry, Son Paul Blocker and his wife Alicia of Perry, and considered as son Brad Savoie, 16 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren, 4 sisters and 3 brothers.
