Walter Earl Hafer, 75, of Perry has passed from this world into the next. He was born on January 31, 1947 in Cleveland Texas the son of Frank Earl Hafer and Mary Joyce Ewing. He attended schools in Texas here he enjoyed rodeoing, hunting, and fishing. After high school he married Lynda Sue English and from this union came two daughters. He worked as a welder and pipefitter for Union 430. After the couple divorced, he met the love of is life Barbara Hackney and they enjoyed many years of happiness until his death, June 15, 2022 at his home outside of Perry. He enjoyed rodeos and was a talented bareback rider. He helped establish the Victoria Rodeo Association in Victoria, Texas. He enjoyed listening to old country music and raising cattle and most of all spending time with his family. A great spoiler of grandkids, he often included them in the farm and ranch chores.
He was reunited in heaven with his parents and brother Leo Howard, Jr.
Walter leaves behind to mourn his loss his wife Barbara of the home, daughter Trisha Sue Horn and her husband Ronald of Perry, daughter Christy Lynn Wilson of Ponca City, son Larry Rau of Ponca City, son Mark Rau of Ponca City, son Richard Rau of Ponca City, son John Hackney of Ponca City, granddaughter Morgan Horn of Garber, granddaughter Mattie Horn of Garber, grandson Ridge Horn of Perry, grandson Cash Wilson of Pawnee, and a large extended family including Lynda Sue Hafer of Perry
A memorial Service will be held to Celebrate his life at the Antelope Valley Church of Billings, on Monday, June 20, 2022, at 2 p.m. pastor Yoder will officiate. Honorary Bearers will include Rob Danner, Jackie Parks, Paul Moses, Travis McNeil, and Bill Gray. Retiring his brand by grandson Ridge Horn will take place outside the church immediately after the service. Brown-Dugger Funeral Home, Perry, OK.
