Vernon Sattler

Vernon Sattler, 88, of Lucien, Oklahoma, was the son of Charles Fredrick and Hester Marie Parks Sattler. He was born on October 12, 1922 in Lucien, Oklahoma and died Friday, September 30, 2011 at his residence in Lucien. Vernon married Dorothy SchwandtRucker on September 9, 1960 at the United Methodist Church in Lucien, Oklahoma. Dorothy preceded Vernon in death on August 8, 1996. After the death of his first wife Vernon married June Chambers on May 4, 2002 in Eureka Springs, Arkansas. Vernon attended school in the Lucien community. He was retired from Ditch Witch after 24 years of employment. After retirement he continued to enjoy his farming and ranching operation. He also enjoyed square dancing and spending time with his grandchildren when not working on the farm. Vernon was a member of the Lucien Merri Makers Square Dance Club, The Lucien Community Club and a member of Lucien United Methodist Church. Vernon will always be remembered for being a loving husband, father, brother, grandfather and great grandfather. Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, October 4, 2011 at the Lucien United Methodist Church in Lucien, Oklahoma. Rev. Ruth Atterberry will officiate and Rev. C.M. Wilson will assist. Interment will be in McGuire Cemetery in Lucien, Oklahoma. Services are under the direction of BrownDugger Funeral Home. Family will received friends Monday, October 3, 2011 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at BrownDugger Funeral Home. Vernon is survived by his wife June of the home three daughters, Karen Shaw and her husband, Jack of Perry, Oklahoma , Rhonda Hanyka of Tavares, Florida and Tammy Beier and her husband, Steve of Bartlesville, Oklahoma seven grandchildren, Angela Shaw, Amber Givens and her husband Chad all of Perry, Oklahoma, Crystal Schuler and her husband , Dan, of Tavares, Florida, Stephanie Wells and her husband, Chris, Emily Ward and her husband, Dustin, all of Bartlesville, Oklahoma, Sherri Ward and her husband, Andrew of Ponca City, Oklahoma and Reagan Ivers of Tavares, Florida twelve great grandchildren, Emeri Ward, Carter Wells, and Dakota Ward all of Bartlesville, Oklahoma, Brandt Bullard , Cale Bullard, Cade Bullard, Camdyn Bullard and Reagan Schuler all of Tavares, Florida, Skylar Valenzuela, Aspyn Bourland, Eric Givens, and Cadence Givens all of Perry, Oklahoma. He is preceded in death by his first wife Dorothy his parents one brother, John Sattler and two sisters, Bertha Sattler Shook and Hazel Sattler Mooney Casteel.
