Vernon Riley

Vernon L. Riley, 74, of Garber, Oklahoma was born March 28, 1930 at Enid, Oklahoma. His biological parents were Lee and Hailey Mason and his adoptive parents were John Euen and Ruby Francis Riley. Vernon died Wednesday, June 9, 2004 at his home. He was a 1948 graduate of Garber High School. He and Marie Joy Siegle were married on December 8, 1949 at Enid, Oklahoma. Vernon attained the rank of Senior Master Sergeant with the United States Air Force before retiring after 25 years of service. He was a veteran of the Korean War and the Vietnam Conflict. During his military career, he served at duty stations in San Antonio, Texas, F.G. Warren Air Force Base in Wyoming, Carswell Air Force Base, Texas; K-16, Seoul, Korea, Hamilton Air Force Base, California, twice at Hickman Air Force Base in Hawaii, McClellan Air Force Base, California, twice at Travis Air Force, California, Sunnyvale AFS, California, Elmendorf Air Force Base, Saigon, Vietnam and Tinker Air Force Base, Oklahoma. Graveside services will be at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, June 12, 2004 at the Garber Cemetery, Garber, Oklahoma. Arrangements are under direction of Dugger Funeral Home of Garber. Memorials may be made to the Hospice Circle of Love in care of Dugger Funeral Home. In addition to his wife, Marie, of the home, survivors are two sons, James Riley and his wife, Karie, of Spokane, Washington, and Dale Riley; three daughters, Vickie Riley, of Garber, Oklahoma, Dena Sonnenburg and her husband, Steve, of Sparks, Nevada, and Mary Beth Helt and her husband, Mike, of Greenville, California; two brothers, Eldon Riley, of Enid, Oklahoma, and Larry Mason, of Enid, Oklahoma; one sister, Violet Swanson, of Beggs, Oklahoma; and eight grandchildren.
