Shirley Morton

Shirley Winifred VanBebber Morton, 90, of Perry, Oklahoma, was the daughter of Bert Edward and Artie Gregory Wood. She was born on April 16, 1918 in Wichita, Kansas and died Thursday, May 15, 2008 at her home. Shirley attended the University of Denver. She moved to Perry from Wichita, Kansas in 1932. In 1937, Shirley married Glenn VanBebber. He preceded her in death in 1962. Shirley then married Darrell Morton in 1970. He preceded her in death in 1979. She operated Brown Floral for many years and worked in the construction business. Shirley was a member of the First Christian Church. Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m. Monday, May 19, 2008 in the First Christian Church. Rev. Martin Foster will officiate. Interment will be in Grace Hill Cemetery. Services are under the direction of Brown-Dugger Funeral Home in Perry. Memorials may be made to the First Christian Church in care of Brown-Dugger Funeral Home, 1010 N. 7th Street, Perry, Oklahoma 73077. Shirley is survived by one son, Gene VanBebber of Perry, Oklahoma; five grandchildren, Glenna Moak of Dallas, Texas, Vicki Cooke of Perry, Oklahoma, Lucia Ann VanBebber of Jupiter, Florida, Sherlyn Renee Corley and Kevin Patrick Whitchurch, both of San Antonio, Texas and five great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her two husbands, one daughter, her parents, one brother and one sister.
