Shirley Goodwin

Shirley James Goodwin, 85, of Perry, Oklahoma was the son of Leonard Lawson and Essie Wilson Goodwin. He was born March 4, 1921 in Vale, Oregon and died Monday, November 6, 2006 at his home. Shirley moved to Perry with his family from Vale, Oregon when he was six years old. He served his country in the United States Air Corp, 8th Air Force from December 9, 1941-September 12, 1945. He and Mary Mildred Chenoweth were married on August 14, 1945 in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Shirley worked 20 years as an operator for Lloyd Jones and 16 years as a machinist for Charles Machine Works. He was of the Baptist Faith. Memorial services will be at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, November 9, 2006 at the Kaw Street Chapel in Perry. Pastor Greg Stone will officiate. Interment will be in Grace Hill Cemetery at Perry. Services are under the direction of Brown-Dugger Funeral Home of Perry. In addition to his wife, Mary, survivors are one son, Wiley Joe Goodwin, of Perry, Oklahoma; two daughters, Shirley Marie Valdez and Sally Ann Hopkins and her husband, Rod, both of Perry, Oklahoma; six granddaughters, Angela Brand and her husband, Russell, of Perry, Oklahoma, Cheryl Trent and her husband, Jim, of Stillwater, Oklahoma, Patricia Martin and her husband, Travis, of Edmond, Oklahoma, Jacqueline Higginbotham and her husband, Phillip, of Houston, Texas, Mary Ellen Eidson and her husband, Bruce, of San Antonio, Texas and Nikki Kleinsasser, of Perry, Oklahoma; eight great-grandchildren, two brothers, Wally Goodwin, of Denham, New Mexico and Glenn Goodwin, of Claremore, Oklahoma; and a brother-in-law, Glen Carlon, of McCloud, Oklahoma. Shirley was preceded in death by his parents, one son, Miles Lee Goodwin and two sisters, Gladys Carlon and Isabella Goodwin.
