Ruby Graves

Ruby Belle Graves, 96, of Billings, Oklahoma was the daughter of Frank Leslie and Bessie Ellen Reed Swope. She was born on July 21, 1915 in Sedalia, Missouri and died on February 29, 2012 at the Green Valley Nursing Home in Perry, Oklahoma. She moved to a farm south of Billings when she was five years old where she attended Antelope Valley School, she than moved with her parents to the Covington Oil Field area and attended school at Covington. On April 8, 1933 Ruby married Alfred R. Graves at the Perry Christian Church and they resided south of Hayward, before moving to a farm south of Billings, where they lived until 1964, when they moved to town. Alfred preceded her in death in1990. She helped her husband farm and raise dairy cattle. She raised fresh vegetables and fruits for her family dinner table, and was known as an excellent seamstress and cook. Ruby raised beautiful flowers and was known for her flower and vegetable gardening. She was honored by the Billings Community for her flower gardens. The Farm Bureau of Oklahoma honored her and Alfred as the Farm Family of the year in 1987. Her hobbies were her gardening and ceramics she worked for the election board for twentynine years and was a LPN at the Billings Nursing Home for a long period of time. Ruby was a member of the Antelope Valley Church of the Brethren and an active member in the Womens Work for many years. She was also a Sunday school teacher and a Bible school teacher. Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Saturday, March 3, 2012 at the Antelope Valley Church of The Brethren south of Billings. Rev. Gerald Klaus will officiate. Interment will be in Union Cemetery. Services are under the direction of Dugger Funeral Home in Billings. Viewing will be Thursday, March 1, 2012 from 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Dugger Funeral Home in Billings, Oklahoma. Additional viewing will be Friday, March 2, 2012 from 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. at BrownDugger Funeral Home in Perry, Oklahoma. The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Friday, March 2, 2012 at BrownDugger Funeral Home in Perry, Oklahoma. Ruby is survived by her son Jackie Raymond Graves and his wife, Pat from California two daughters, Patricia Patsy Chapman from Enid, Oklahoma, Vernona Ellen Davis and her husband, Jim of Perry, Oklahoma six grand children, Deana Rae Chapman Lamle and her husband, Ray from Enid, Oklahoma, Gregory Ray Chapman and his wife, Lisa from Enid, Oklahoma, Steffani Belle Davis Richards from Perry, Oklahoma, Jeffery Todd Davis and his wife, Lori from Perry, Oklahoma Kelli Vincent and her husband, Kurt from Billings, Oklahoma, Kim Hollenbach and her husband, Marco from Washington eighteen great grand children and seven greatgreat grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her husband Alfred one son, Ralph Dean, both her parents, Frank and Bessie three brothers one sister and one son in law, Billy Ray Chapman and one daughter in law, Jerri Graves.
