Patrick Griffin

May 30, 1946 — August 24, 2008

Patrick J. Griffin, 62, of Perry, Oklahoma , passed away after a lengthy illness on August 24, 2008 at Integris Baptist Hospital in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. He was born May 30, 1946 in Florence, Arizona to Knox L. and Lillian James Griffin. Patrick grew up in California and Oklahoma. He graduated from Ames High School in 1965. He began his working career by working in the hay fields of California and when he was drafted he joined the Air Force. Patrick served in the United States Air Force from January 1966 through January 1986 as an Aircraft Mechanic. Patrick's career with the Air Force took him to Thailand, Korea, Taiwan and Okinawa. He was stationed at Wichita, Kansas, Las Vegas, Nevada and Edwards Air Force Base, California during his career. After retiring from the Air Force he worked for Northrop Aircraft on the B-2 at Edwards Air Force Base, California from February 1986 until April 1996. Patrick married Patricia A. Young on July 26, 1969 in Wichita, Kansas. They enjoyed traveling to new countries and seeing new things together. They celebrated 39 years of marriage this last July, as he was Patricia's best friend and the love of her life. In 1996 Patrick decided he would like to move to Missouri and raise cattle. They moved, and he did raise cattle on 43 acres and tinkered in his large garage, where he learned to restore cars under the direction of his Uncle Charlie. In September of 2005 Patrick and Patricia moved to Perry, Oklahoma to be closer to his family and hers. This allowed them time to reconnect with family as they had lived away for so many years. Patrick was a quiet Christian man who showed kindness and gentleness to all who met him throughout his life. He was loved by friends and family. He was a fun loving person who joked with family and friends and always had a smile for everyone that he met. Funeral services will be at 10:00 a.m. Friday, August 29, 2008 in the Brown-Dugger Funeral Home Chapel in Perry. Rev. Roger Dunn will officiate. Interment will be in Grace Hill Cemetery. Services are under the direction of Brown-Dugger Funeral Home. The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Thursday, August 28, 2008 at Brown-Dugger Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society or the National Transplant Assistance Fund in care of Brown-Dugger Funeral Home, 1010 N. 7th Street, Perry, Oklahoma 73077.
