Opal Karcher

Opal McNeal Karcher, 90, of Perry, Oklahoma, was the daughter of Leslie Johnson and Iva McIntyre Johnson. She was born on September 24, 1918 in Orlando, Oklahoma and went to be with her Lord and Savior on Sunday, May 3, 2009 at Perry Memorial Hospital. On May 27, 1936, Opal married Lester Shanty McNeal at Lucien, Oklahoma. Lester preceded her in death on August 5, 1971. To this union four daughters were born, Janice, Jeanette, Vicky and Sandra. After Lesters death Opal married Ernest Karcher at the Christ Lutheran Church in Perry, Oklahoma on October 7, 1978. Ernest preceded her in death on August 23, 2001. She was a member of the Christ Lutheran Church in Perry, and enjoyed sewing, fishing, camping and gardening. Opal was a loving wife, mother, grandmother. Family and friends will remember her as a loving person who was young at heart. Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, May 6, 2009 at the Christ Lutheran Church in Perry. Rev. William Metz will officiate. Interment will be in the McGuire Cemetery. Services are under the direction of Brown-Dugger Funeral Home in Perry. Memorial contributions may be made payable to the Lutheran Hour in care of Brown-Dugger Funeral Home, 1010 N. 7th Street, Perry, Oklahoma 73077. Opal leaves us her legacy being survived by three daughters, Janice Franklin and husband Bud of Perry, Oklahoma, Jeanette Townsend of Wichita, Kansas, Vicky Freese and husband Larry of Kearney, Missouri, one sister Maxine Williamson of Perry, Oklahoma, six grandchildren Gregg Payne and his wife Kathy of Perry, Oklahoma, Mark Payne and his wife Kim of Perry, Oklahoma, Shelly Payne of Perry, Oklahoma, Asher Freese of St. Louis, Missouri, Brooke Slate and her husband Dan of Wichita, Kansas, Lindsey Freese of Kearney, Missouri, nine great-grandchildren and seven great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, two husbands, one daughter Sandra Sue McNeal, one grandson Bruce Owen Payne, one great-granddaughter Ashton Lee Payne, two brothers and one sister.
