Monzell LaVerne Pollman was born to Herbert E. and Laura (Clark) Schwartz on November 29, 1919 in Hunter, Oklahoma. Monzell started her education in a rural school in Jefferson, Oklahoma and also attended school at Billings. Monzell took a year off and went to Hunter school as a freshman and lived with her grandparents, George and Mary Clark, for the year. She went back to Billings school for a couple of years. Monzell's parents moved to a farm east of Perry in 1937. Monzell graduated from Eureka school (north and east of Stillwater) in 1938.
On November 15, 1939 Eddie Pollman and Monzell were married at Christ Lutheran Church in Perry. Monzell joined the church shortly after. She became active in LWML, Altar Guild, teaching Sunday school, and VBS. She loved to crochet and make quilts as her mom had done. She helped the craft ladies at Christ Lutheran making World Relief quilts and afghans and quilts for grandkids, nieces, and nephews. She loved doing things for other people up to her passing and was well known for helping others at Canoe Brook. She had to be cautioned about helping other people there. She loved to push the ladies in wheelchairs. The staff told her that was their job.
Monzell passed peacefully at Canoe Brook on March 26, 2018 at around 3:30pm. They checked on her earlier and she was watching T.V. The next time she was with Jesus.
Funeral services will be held at the Christ Lutheran Church in Perry, Oklahoma at 2:00pm on Monday, April 2, 2018. Pastor Metz will be officiating. Services have been entrusted to the care of Brown-Dugger Funeral Home.
Monzell was proceeded in death by her husband, Ed Pollman; father, Herbert E. Schwartz; mother, Laura (Clark) Schwartz; brothers, Merle Schwartz, Dwight Schwartz and Dwayne Schwartz.
Monzell is survived by her daughter, Carole Pollman Weygand; son-in-law, Ray Weygand; grandson Eddy Weygand and wife Mickie; step-son, Tate Green; grandson, Bryan Weygand and wife Kendi. She is also survived by a niece and numerous nephews.
