Celebration of Life Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, January 15, 2016 at the First United Methodist Church under the direction of the Brown-Dugger Funeral Home. Visitation will be held from 12:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Thursday, January 14, 2016 with the family receiving friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the Brown-Dugger Funeral Home.

Mary Jane Sparks, age 98 long time Perry, Oklahoma resident died Tuesday, January 5, 2016 at the Garden Valley Nursing Home in Kansas City, Missouri.

Celebration of Life Services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, January 15, 2016 at the First United Methodist Church under the direction of the Brown-Dugger Funeral Home.

Visitation hours will be held from 12:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Thursday, January 14, 2016 with the family receiving friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the Brown-Dugger Funeral Home.

The family has suggested memorials to the First United Methodist Quilters and contributions may be left at the Brown-Dugger Funeral Home.

Mary Jane was born July 1, 1917 in Tulsa, Oklahoma to Joseph and Mary Jane (Boyd) Melbourne. She grew u in Dallas, Texas and graduated from the Woodward Wilson High School. On August 10, 1935 Mary Jane married Bernelton Juan Sparks. The couple made their home in Marlow, Oklahoma before moving to Los Angeles, California. The couple moved back to Perry, Oklahoma in 1943. The couple owned and operated Sparks General Store for several decades until their retirement. Mary Jane was a member of the First United Methodist Church, United Methodist Women, Book Club, Prayer Group and also taught Sunday School. Mary Jane loved to write Poetry.

Survivors include two daughters Judy and husband Don Miller of Kansas City, Missouri and Pam Marcum of Tulsa, Oklahoma; three sons Clifford and wife Pam Sparks of Gladstone, Missouri, Jon and wife Irene Sparks of Platte City, Missouri and Bob and wife Rhonda Sparks of Kansas City, Missouri; eight grandchildren, nineteen great grandchildren and five great great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by two brothers, one sister and one grandchild.
