Martin Daniel Kingery, 86, of Billings, Oklahoma, was born on October 1, 1923 in Enid, Oklahoma to Clint and Elsie Bickel Kingery. He died on December 27, 2009 at the Cole's Nursing Home in Guthrie, Oklahoma. Martin grew up on the family farm southwest of Billings and attended the rural school a few miles from the farm. He served his country in the United States Army during World War II. Martin married Ellen Holmes on November 22, 1941 at Berkley, California, where he was employed at a defense plant. Ellen lived in Billings and had graduated from Billings High School in 1940. After their wedding the couple moved back to Billings and Martin worked as a welder for Champlin Oil Company. Later he drove a propane truck for Rush's Conoco and also worked as a pumper for Woods Petroleum. Martin eventually worked at Ditch Witch in Perry in the welding department and retired from there. He was a member of the Methodist Church in Billings. Martin continued to take care of his mother for many years with great love and devotion. Martin spent most of his retired life looking after his beloved wife, Ellen and her mother Thelma Holmes. Many times Martin would have both Ellen and Thelma in the hospital at the same time. When Ellen passed away in 1993, Martin had lost the love of his life. He continued enjoying the farm that he owned but never fully recovered from losing Ellen. Memorial services will be 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, December 29, 2009 at the Christian Church in Billings. Pastor John Holderread will officiate. Services are under the direction of Dugger Funeral Home in Billings. Memorials may be made to the Billings Fire Department in care of Dugger Funeral Home, P.O. Box 41, Billings, Oklahoma 74630. Martin and Ellen had two children, Kay Lynn Kingery Davis and her husband, Richard Dick Davis, of Cashion, Oklahoma and John Clinton Kingery and his wife, Peggy Jean Morris Kingery, of Cedar Valley, Oklahoma; six grandchildren and their spouses; twenty great-grandchildren and three great-great grandchildren. Besides his family Martin leaves behind a host of friends in Billings, Garber, Perry and Enid. He was preceded in death by his wife, Ellen and his sister, Mary Catherine Kingery Roe. Martin Kingery was a good man and a good friend to many. He believed in God and he truly believed that a man was only a good as his word. He will be missed but not forgotten by those who knew him and those that loved him. Condolences may be sent to the family using our online guest book at www.duggerfuneralhome.com.
