Mabel Miller

Mabel A. Miller, 83, long-time resident of Perry, Oklahoma, was the daughter of Phil and Inez Plano. The second of four children, she was born May 17, 1925 in Renton, Washington and died Wednesday, May 13, 2009 at her home. Mabel married James A. Miller and the couple moved to Oklahoma, eventually settling in Perry, where they raised three children, Judith Ann, James A. Jr. and John Allan. Besides being a devoted wife and mother, Mabel worked at The Perry Daily Journal for 35 years, from 1962 until 1997. She was active in the Republican Party for many years. Mabel was also active in the community, serving as president of the Perry Chamber of Commerce for the 1993-1994 term. Graveside memorial services will be at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, May 19, 2009 in the Grace Hill Memorial Pavilion at Grace Hill Cemetery in Perry. Rev. William Metz will officiate. Services are under the direction of Brown-Dugger Funeral Home of Perry. Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association or the charity of the donor's choice in care of Brown-Dugger Funeral Home, 1010 N. 7th Street, Perry, Oklahoma 73077. Mabel is survived by her daughter, Judith and her husband, Arlan Arthur Bud Coffman, of McQueeney, Texas; her son, James A. Miller Jr., of Perry, Oklahoma; four grandchildren, Kelly Coffman and Barkley Coffman, both of McQueeney, Texas, and James A. Miller III and his wife, Jacinda, and John Adams Miller, all of Perry, Oklahoma; two great-grandchildren, Saryn Miller and Paisley Coffman; and one brother, James Lee Plano, of Seattle, Washington. She was preceded in death by her parents, Phil and Inez Plano; her husband, James Miller; two brothers, Phil Plano and John Plano; and one son, John Allan Miller.
