Lorene Mielke

Lorene Mielke, 94, of Oklahoma City, formerly of Perry, Oklahoma was the daughter of Fred and Emma Schulz Rendla. She was born February 28, 1914 on a farm five miles northeast of Perry and died Sunday, December 28, 2008 at Mercy Health Center in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. At the age of one year, Lorene moved with her family to Perry. She attended Perry schools. On August 11, 1935, she and Edgar L. Mielke were married at Christ Lutheran Church in Perry. They farmed in the Perry area for 38 years. Lorene and her husband purchased the Silverthorne Motel in 1973 and operated the business for 14 years. Her husband preceded her in death on October 23, 1990. She was a member of Christ Lutheran Church and enjoyed sewing, gardening and working crossword puzzles. Funeral services will be at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, December 31, 2008 at Christ Lutheran Church in Perry. Rev. William Metz will officiate. Interment will be in Grace Hill Cemetery. Services are under the direction of Brown-Dugger Funeral Home. The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Tuesday, December 30, 2008 at Brown-Dugger Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to Christ Lutheran Church of Perry or Covenant Presbyterian Church of Oklahoma City in care of Brown-Dugger Funeral Home, 1010 N. 7th Street, Perry, Oklahoma 73077. Lorene is survived by one daughter, Barbara Eckenrode and her husband, Charles, of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; three granddaughters, Sherri Corbett and her husband, James, of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, Kathy Loyd and her husband, Richard, of Bartlesville, Oklahoma, and Charla Allison and her husband, Steve, of Edmond, Oklahoma; and five great-grandchildren, Melissa Corbett, Kayla Allison and Jared Allison, all of Edmond, Oklahoma, David Corbett, of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, and Kaitlin Loyd, of Bartlesville, Oklahoma. In addition to her husband, Edgar, Lorene was preceded in death by her parents, one sister and one brother.
