Leona Eline (Kendle) Stickney, age 99, was born on August 29, 1918 to Otho and Mary Kendle. She passed from this life and went to be with her Lord and Savior on June 26, 2018 in Harrison, Maine.
Leona was born in Viola, Arkansas and then moved to Phoenix, AZ where she spent most of her childhood. She later moved to Perry, Oklahoma after her 8th grade year where she remained until 1980. Leona met her husband at age 16, Loy Stickney. They were married on August 9, 1935 and were married for the next 47 years. They raised 3 wonderful children that she was very proud of.
While her time living in Cushing, Leona attended the Cushing Christian Church. She really enjoyed the community and attended service every Sunday bright and early. She worked in Perry Hospital as a nurse's aide for years. She also worked for several years in Home Health. Leona enjoyed gardening. She had mastered the art of nursery and grew flowers profusely. She also liked to travel when she could. One of her favorite vacations was the trip that her and her son David took to Australia. She had the time of her life and it was an experience she treasured until the end.
She is survived by her daughter, Donna Jantz and her husband Mac of Cushing, Oklahoma; two sons, David Stickney of Maine and Roger Stickney and his wife Jan of Alabama.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Loy Stickney and six brothers.
A memorial service will be held on August 14, 2018 at 11:00 A.M. at Grace Hill Cemetery with Pastor Jim Forrest officiating.
