Joshua Vernon Silvey

November 4, 1988 — December 24, 2024

Billings, Oklahoma

Joshua Vernon Silvey, born on November 4, 1988, in Enid, Oklahoma, departed this world on December 24, 2024, surrounded by the love of friends and family. A cherished son, devoted brother, and proud father, Joshua’s life was marked by an enthusiasm for life that flowed as freely as the rivers he loved to travel along. A warm embrace was never far from his fingertips, and his infectious laughter could light up any room.

Joshua was a compassionate caregiver, having dedicated his career as a nurses aide in hospitals and nursing homes. His passion for taking care of others mirrored the love he held in his heart for everyone he encountered, making him an irreplaceable presence in the lives of many. He graduated from Frontier School in the spring of 2006, ready to embrace the world with open arms and an adventurous spirit.

A whimsical soul, Joshua was truly the life of the party. He had a knack for hosting wonderful dinner parties for friends and family where he acted as the chef. His warmth and charisma were felt not just in words, but in acts of kindness and service. He had an undeniable affinity for his dogs, Coco Channel and Melania, often speaking of the joy, companionship, and unconditional love they provided. Joshua delighted in traveling, and some of his proudest moments came from driving up and down the East Coast of the United States, each journey imbued with memories that would last a lifetime. He cherished time spent with family, his heart reunited with them wherever life took him.

He leaves behind a loving family: his grandmother, Dianne Silvey of Billings; his mother, Zelda Silvey of Tulsa; his daughter, Jazmen Smith of Enid; his sister, Michele Rucker of Perry; his brother, Irvin Schultz of Tulsa; his niece, Kiara Rucker; his nephew, Kyson Rucker; his aunt, Charla Therrian of Marshall; his uncle, Gaylon Silvey, and wife, Molly, of Billings; his uncle, Tracy Silvey of Garber; his aunt, Zonell Conant; a host of cherished cousins, and his best friend, Michael Jackson.

Though Joshua’s earthly journey has come to a peaceful close, leaving us with an ache for his presence, he will forever reside in the hearts of those who knew and loved him. He is reunited with his father, Terry Loren Silvey, who left us too soon in 2007, and with his grandfather, Charles Silvey, who passed away in 2023, along with Granny Joan Schultz, whose loving spirit continues to guide him.

The world seems a little dimmer without Joshua, a truly vibrant spirit, but those who carry his memory will surely illuminate the paths he walked, reminding us to laugh a little louder and love a little deeper. A graveside service to honor his remarkable life and lasting legacy will be held on December 28, 2024, at 3:00 PM at Billings Union Cemetery in Billings, Oklahoma, where he will be laid to rest. To celebrate Joshua’s essence, let us come together in joyous remembrance of a soul who lived life passionately and fiercely, a spirit that will undoubtedly linger on.
