Joice Ella Turkett Hoffmann, 91, of Blackwell, Oklahoma died Friday, February 10, 2006 in Hillcrest Manor Nursing Center, Blackwell, Oklahoma. Joice was born January 12, 1915 in Marlow, Oklahoma to Jackson Henry and Eva Lee Jones Turkett. Funeral service will be Tuesday, February 14, 2006, 2:00 p.m. at the First United Methodist Church in Tonkawa, Oklahoma with Rev. Michael Brannon officiating. Interment will follow in the Lamont Cemetery, Lamont, Oklahoma. Arrangements are under the direction of Dugger Funeral Home, Tonkawa, Oklahoma. Memorials may be given to the Scott Butler Scholarship Fund at Oklahoma University in care of Dugger Funeral Home, 400 E. Grand, Tonkawa, Oklahoma, 74653. Joice was raised in Vernon, Texas and graduated from West Vernon High School. Then she graduated from Oklahoma College for Women in Chickasha, Oklahoma with a degree in English and Spanish. She taught English in Blackwell Junior High School for 19 years; also teaching in Maintou and Lamont, Oklahoma retiring after teaching for 21 years. She also worked for Cessna aircraft in Wichita, Kansas. Joice and Louie William Hoffmann were married on July 14, 1942 in Lamont, Oklahoma. Farming near Lamont, Oklahoma for around 55 years. She was a member of the Oklahoma Eastern Star, White Shrine of Jerusalem, Oklahoma Education Association, Domestic Science Extension Homemaker, Kay County Retired Teachers Assn. and The First Christian Church in Blackwell. She is survived by her daughter, Cathy McBee and her husband, Scotty of Tonkawa, Oklahoma; her grandsons, Lance McBee of Tonkawa, Oklahoma , Christopher Butler and his wife, Cassie of Edmond, Oklahoma; and great granddaughter, Isabella Butler. She is preceded in death by her husband in 1982; her parents; her brothers, Arwood and Elmer Turkett; her sister, Angie Lee Spangler, her grandson, Scott B. Butler.
