John Stowers

John Stowers, 81, of Garber, Oklahoma, was the son of Everett L. and Ida Marie Koch Stowers. He was born on September 20, 1922 in Elk, Kansas and died Saturday, September 11, 2004 at the Enid Living Center in Enid, Oklahoma. John married Bertha Florence Blaser on May 23, 1945 in Garber, Oklahoma. She preceded him in death on September 17, 1989. John served his country in World War II, and attained the rank of Corporal in the United States Marine Corp. He was a member of the Immanuel Lutheran Church. John retired from the Champlin refinery after 35 years of service but continued farming around the Garber area for several years. Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, September 14, 2004 at the Immanuel Lutheran Church. Rev. Joseph Myers will officiate. Interment will be in Garber Cemetery. Services are under the direction of Dugger Funeral Home in Garber. Memorials may be made to the Immanuel Lutheran Church building fund in care of Dugger Funeral Home. John is survived by three sons, Ray E. Stowers and his wife Peggy, of Tulsa, Oklahoma, Ralph L. Stowers and his wife Rhonda, of Garber, Oklahoma and Paul A. Stowers and his wife, Rhonda, of Garber, Oklahoma; two daughters, Karen K. West and her husband, Robert, of Norman, Oklahoma and Ellen M. Stewart of Cottonwood, Arizona; two brothers, Wiley Stowers of Lamont, Oklahoma and William Stowers of Tonkawa, Oklahoma, four granddaughters, Jennifer Stowers and Brandi Davis, both of Tulsa, Oklahoma, Renee Throckmorton of Lahoma, Oklahoma and Rachel F. West of Norman, Oklahoma; ten grandsons, Mark Stowers of Tulsa, Oklahoma, Steven R. Stowers of Lincoln, Nebraska, Douglas A. Stowers of Enid, Oklahoma, Andrew W. Stowers of Garber, Oklahoma, John R. West of Norman, Oklahoma, Jesse D. Holder and Jakob R. Holder, both of Phoenix, Arizona, Alan R. Stowers of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma, Michael D. Stowers and Matthew R. Stowers, both of Garber, Oklahoma and eleven great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Bertha Stowers, his parents, Everett and Ida Stowers, one sister, Alice Marie Stowers and one grandson, Lucas West.
