John Ranes

John Dale Ranes, 75, of Perry, Oklahoma, was the son of James Frank Franklin and Mary Margaret Warren Ranes. He was born on February 20, 1935 in Ceres, Oklahoma and died Thursday, July 15, 2010 at the Perry Memorial Hospital. He went to school at Banner District 26 and Glenrose Country Schools in Noble County. He graduated from Billings High School in 1954. John worked for several farmers around Ceres and later worked at Ditch Witch for many years. He cared for both his father and mother until their deaths. John farmed the farm his grandfather got during the 1893 Cherokee Run. His hobbies included horse breaking and riding, boating, fishing and riding his motorcycle. He enjoyed helping people. Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, July 21, 2010 at the BrownDugger Funeral Home Chapel. Brother Aaron Summers will officiate. Interment will be in Ceres Cemetery. Services are under the direction of BrownDugger Funeral Home. The family will be receiving friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday, July 20, 2010 at BrownDugger Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society in care of BrownDugger Funeral Home, 1010 N. 7th Street, Perry, Oklahoma 73077. John is survived by two brothers, James Franklin Ranes and his wife Ruby, of Garland, Texas and Thomas William Ranes and his wife, Deloris, of Kinta, Oklahoma three sisters, Olive Serena Hellar and her husband, Dennis, of Lawton, Oklahoma, Mildred Lea Shearer of Perry, Oklahoma and Cleta Anna Ralph of Oklee, Minnesota eighteen nieces and nephews twentythree great nieces and nephews and twentyfive greatgreat nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Margaret Ranes and one brother, Guy Albert Ranes.
