Jeanette R. McElvany, 81, of Edmond, Oklahoma, was the daughter of Alvie Lee and Virginia Ann Hash Swain. She was born on May 28, 1929 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma and died Wednesday, August 18, 2010 at Integris Baptist Medical Center in Oklahoma City. On May 23, 1952, Jeanette married Paul Edmund McElvany in Meeker, Oklahoma. Jeanette worked for Dr. Godfrey and Dr. Lillard at Central State University. She then worked for Teachers Retirement until she retired in 1988. She was a member of the Brown Sunday School class, Happy Timers, and sang in the Senior Choir. Jeanette enjoyed painting, yoga, playing the piano and loved to fish. Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m. Saturday, August 21, 2010 at the First Baptist Church of Edmond, 1300 E. 33rd Street, Edmond, Oklahoma 73013. Dr. Alan Day will officiate. Interment will be in Memorial Park Cemetery in Oklahoma City. Services are under the direction of BrownDugger Funeral Home in Perry, assisted by Matthews Funeral Home in Edmond. Friends may call and flowers will be received at Matthews Funeral Home, 601 S. Kelly, Edmond, Oklahoma 73003 from 8:00 a.m. until 9:00 p.m. Memorials may be made to the First Baptist Church of Edmond in care of BrownDugger Funeral Home, 1010 N. 7th Street, Perry, Oklahoma 73077. Jeanette is survived by her husband, Paul McElvany three sons, Dr. Dean McElvany and his wife, Linda, Rocky McElvany and his wife, Carol, and Matt McElvany and his wife, Shelly, all of Edmond, Oklahoma one daughter, Vicki Puckett of Edmond, Oklahoma nine grandchildren, Dr. Matthew McElvany of Portland, Oregon, Julie Witherspoon of Houston, Texas, Robin Turnbull of Frisco, Texas, B.J. Puckett, Johnny Puckett, Jessica McElvany, Alyssa McElvany, Lauren McElvany and Logan McElvany, all of Edmond, Oklahoma five great grandchildren and one brother, A.L. Swain of Tulsa, Oklahoma. She was preceded in death by her parents, Alvie and Virginia Swain and one brother, Walter A. Swain.
