J.D. Sadler, 86, of Perry, Oklahoma was born the sixth of eight children to Joseph Alfred and Idella Isabella Gaither Sadler. He was born June 9, 1924 in Wellston, Oklahoma and died Sunday, December 19, 2010 at Perry Memorial Hospital. His parents were share croppers and his dad was a Freewill Baptist preacher. Prior to graduation from Cushing High School he drove to California to enlist in the United States Army Infantry, Core of Engineers. J.D. was a World War II veteran serving in the African, European and Pacific Theater. He received the Good Conduct Medal, European African Middle Eastern Service Medal, Asiatic pacific Medal, World War II Victory Medal, Distinguished Unit Citation Go 95 Hq Fifth Army 44. He married Betty Louise Shaffner on August 21, 1946 in Pawhuska, Oklahoma. She preceded him in death December 18, 2008. J.D. attended Central State College and graduated in 1950. While living in Stillwater he answered an ad in a trade journal to begin his future career with Charles Machine Works. He served as the Chief Financial Officer for Charles Machine Works for over twentyeight years before retiring in 1983. He was a member of the Lions Club, Knights of Columbus, Kumback Coffee Club and a lifetime member of the Perry Golf and Country Club. He enjoyed playing golf, coaching little league baseball and was an avid Cardinals fan. Mass of Resurrection will be at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, December 28, 2010 at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church. Father Ken Harder will officiate. Services are under the direction of BrownDugger Funeral Home. A Rosary will be led by Dennis and Carol Steichen at 7:00 p.m. Monday, December 27, 2010 at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church. J.D. is survived by five sons, Mike Sadler and his wife, Pam, of Norman, Oklahoma, Lenny Sadler and his wife, Linda, and Tony Sadler and his wife, Brenda, all of Amarillo, Texas, and Mark Sadler and his wife, Mary, and Danny Sadler and his wife, Meredith, all of Tulsa, Oklahoma one daughter, Mary Louise Dolezal and her husband, John, of Perry, Oklahoma 19 grandchildren 25 greatgrandchildren two brothers, Conn Sadler and his wife, Katheryn, of Nicoma Park, Oklahoma and Wallace Sadler and his wife, Billie, of Perkins, Oklahoma one sister, Eletha Sherrod of Wagoner, Oklahoma. He was preceded in death by his wife, Betty Sadler parents, Joseph and Idella Sadler three brothers, Coy, Russell and Jim Sadler and one sister, Maxye Raney.
