Janice Cowen

Janice Marie Manley Cowen, 72, of Perry, Oklahoma, was the daughter of Ira Gilbert and Glennace Maxine Chain Buckles. She was born on May 11, 1940 in Oakwood, Oklahoma and she died Saturday, June 30, 2012 at Green Valley Nursing Home in Perry, Oklahoma. She graduated from Billings High School in 1958. She married Brice Manley in 1958 to this union three children were born. Janice married her best friend, Arnold Calvert Cowen on November 30, 2004 in Las Vegas, Nevada. Janice raised large standard poodles, played cards at the senior citizens center and loved to travel. She enjoyed reading, crafts, fishing and watching the food channel but most of all she enjoyed spending time with family and friends. She was an active member of the Antelope Valley Church of the Brethren. Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, July 3, 2012 at The Antelope Valley Church of the Brethren in Billings, Oklahoma. Interment will be at Grace Hill Cemetery in Perry, Oklahoma. Pastor Kelly Cronkhite will officiate. Services are under the direction of BrownDugger Funeral Home. Family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Monday, July 2, 2012 at BrownDugger Funeral Home Perry, Oklahoma. Memorials may be made to Wheatheart Nutrition Center, Elks Lodge of Perry, Oklahoma, Perry Senior Citizen Center, Perry Memorial Hospital Foundation and Green Valley Nursing Home in care of BrownDugger Funeral Home, 1010 N. 7th Street, Perry, Oklahoma 73077. She is survived by her husband Arnold Calvert Cowen of the home one son, Brian Manley and his wife, Abby of Perry, Oklahoma one daughter, Melanie Unruh of Perry, Oklahoma one stepdaughter, Carol Cowen of Perry, Oklahoma mother, Glennace Maxine Buckles of Enid, Oklahoma two brothers, Jerry Buckles of Perry, Oklahoma, Dwight Buckles of Enid, Oklahoma nine grandchildren seven great grandchildren.
