Funeral services for Janene Kay Sheffer Yost will be held 10:00 a.m., Saturday, June 2, 2018, at the Garber Christian Church with Pastor Ron Drage officiating. Interment will be at Enid Memorial Park Cemetery in Enid, Oklahoma under the direction of Dugger Funeral Home, Garber, Oklahoma. Janene passed away Monday, May 28, 2018 at her home in Garber, Oklahoma at the age of 62.
Janene was born September 12, 1955, to John W. Sheffer and Lavelle Terrel Sheffer. She attended Garber Public Schools where she graduated from high school in 1973. Janene was active in the Rainbow Club holding several offices and was also an accomplished Garber High School band member. She attended college at Oklahoma State University and later graduated cum laude from California State Polytechnic University with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Administration.
She married Lynn M. Yost on May 16, 1992 in Arlington, Texas. They later returned to Janene's hometown, Garber, Oklahoma. There she was elected as the Garber City Clerk. Janene continued with her love for music by singing in the Garber Christian Church Choir, where she was an active member as well as a member of the Christian Women's Fellowship. She also enjoyed singing during the holidays at the community cantatas and was involved in the Garber Community Bible Study. Janene was also an active member of the Garber Athenian Club where she held numerous offices including club president. She was proud of the organizations philanthropy work toward the Garber Children's Park, Oklahoma Girls State sponsorship, and the Garber Athenian Scholarship Fund. Janene loved her family and friends and routinely enjoyed coffee with her friends at the Garber Cabin every Tuesday morning.
Janene in survived by her husband, Lynn Yost of the home; her mother, Lavelle Sheffer of Billings, Oklahoma; and cousins, Bill White of Garber, Oklahoma, Terrel Schroeder of Yukon, Oklahoma, Cory Terrel of Piedmont, Oklahoma, Jakki Schroeder, of Piedmont, Oklahoma, Donna Lander of Pembroke Pines, Florida, Linda Wadsworth of Freeland, Washington, and Gary and Terry Sheffer of Colorado. She is preceded in death by her father, John Sheffer; brother Phillip Sheffer; and both sets of grandparents.
