James Don Shugart, 55 of Perry has gone to his eternal rest. He was born on March 3, 1965 in Drumright Oklahoma to Bobby Carol Shugart and his wife Nina Gale Hufford Shugart. He spent his youth in Drumright where he attended elementary school. When he was older, the family settled in Morrison. He graduated from Morrison High School in 1983. During school he worked as a farm hand, driving tractors and feeding cattle. Although he was a gifted mason, James preferred to spend his time in big trucks. He worked as an over -the-road driver for many years. He loved tractors, dozers, all heavy equipment. In his spare time he enjoyed team roping with his friend Victor in Texas, bass fishing and repairing rods and reels. Quite the pool shark, James earned extra cash after high school playing billiards. He met and married the love of his life, Jo Ann in 1998. They enjoyed many years of bliss.
James leaves behind to mourn his loss his daughter Raeneil Shugart and her son Sterling of Perry, step daughter Sarah and her husband of Texas, best friend Victor of Texas, Pete Gindy, and special friend John Melvin aka Whitey of Perry.
James was preceded in death by his parents, and baby brother Robert.
A private cremation service will be held this week under the care of Brown Dugger Funeral Home of Perry. Public Funeral Services will be held on October 17th at the Nazarene church of Perry beginning at 11 a.m. Ministers Steve Smith and Randy Jones will officiate.
He had a gentle soul and a heart of gold. His smile will live on in his daughter and grandson.
