Irene Dugger, 94, of Hammon, Oklahoma was the daughter of William Mathew and Edna Virginia Flynt Stout. She was born April 29, 1917 in Hammon, Oklahoma and died Thursday, January 19, 2012 at the Integris Hospice House in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. Irene graduated from Hammon High School in 1935. She married her high school sweetheart and best friend Richard L. Dugger on June 30, 1935 in Anadarko, Oklahoma. To this union two sons were born, Richard L. Dugger and William D. Bill Dugger. She lived most of her life in the Hammon and Elk City areas. Irene and her husband Richard were proud of their two sons obtaining their Jurius Doctorate and practicing as attorneys. Richard retired as a District Attorney for the State of Oklahoma and Bill retired as a corporate attorney for Western Farmers Electric Cooperative. Irene and her husband were farmers and ranchers, and they along with her brotherinlaw and sisterinlaw, owned and operated Dugger Chevrolet in Hammon for 25 years. They also at one time owned an International Harvester and DesotoPlymouth Dealership at Hammon, Oklahoma a ranch near Davis, Oklahoma International Harvester dealership at Elk City, Clinton, Erick and Fairview Oklahoma the Town House Motel at Paducah, Texas Pendley Furniture Manufacturing in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma grocery stores in Borger, Texas and Clinton, Oklahoma a childrens clothing store in Yukon, Oklahoma a hardware store in Bethany, Oklahoma TriD Grocery Store in Shamrock, Texas a furniture store in Blair, Oklahoma a womens readytowear store and Irenes Ceramics, both in Hammon, Oklahoma. They were a Hereford cattle breeder for many years and then became one of the first breeders of pure bred Charolais cattle in western Oklahoma. Irene in her early years loved working on the farm and ranch with her husband and family. Her hobbies included painting, ceramics, cooking, traveling, knitting, sewing, crocheting and playing bridge. She especially enjoyed visiting her family in California and Michigan, cruises with her husband and their trips to Hawaii. She was a member of the First Baptist Churches of Hammon and Elk City, Oklahoma, Red Moon Culture Club, Arimathaea, Live Embers, and the Cultus Club, Iris Garden Club, Southwest Art Guild. Irene will be remembered as a loving wife, mother, grandmother, greatgrandmother and sister by her family. And as a loving and generous friend by those people whose lives she touched. Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Monday, January 23, 2012 at the First Baptist Church, Hammon, Oklahoma. Rev. Danny Ringer will officiate, assisted by Pastor Winston Curtis. Interment will follow in Red Hill Cemetery, Hammon, Oklahoma. Services are under the direction of BrownDugger Funeral Home, Perry, Oklahoma, assisted by Martin Funeral Home, Elk City, Oklahoma. The family will receive friends from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Sunday, January 22, 2012 at Martin Funeral Home, 600 W. Country Club, Elk City, Oklahoma 73644. Viewing will be from 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. on Monday, January 23, 2012 at the First Baptist Church, 704 Shockey Street, Hammon, Oklahoma 73650. Dugger and his wife, Cindy, of Hammon, Oklahoma one daughterinlaw, Sharon Dugger of Chickasha, Oklahoma four grandchildren, Richard L. Dugger II and his wife, Rhonda, of Perry, Oklahoma, Dennis Dugger and his wife, Becky, of Hammon, Oklahoma, Danielle Dugger of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma and David Dugger and his wife, Audra, of Austin, Texas six greatgrandchildren, Dillon and Kyndal Dugger, both of Hammon, Oklahoma, Devon Banks of Chickasha, Oklahoma, Zachary Dugger and Terry Lacy, both of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma and Darby Dugger of Austin, Texas one brother, Jimmy Dale Stout of Fresno, California one sisterinlaw, Ruth Dugger of Hammon, Oklahoma and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Richard L. Dugger one son, William D. Bill Dugger four sisters, Melba M. Dunn, Pauline M. Allee, Willie Ann Poole and Gladys V. Burgess one daughterinlaw, Patricia Ruth Pat Dugger and seven brothersinlaw and six sistersinlaw.
