Howard Warren Kendle, 78, of Perry, Oklahoma was the son of Otho Lee and Mary Lena Wygandt Kendle. He was born April 15, 1928 in Phoenix, Arizona and died Sunday, April 16, 2006 at his home. Howard served his county in the United States Navy from 1946-1948, the United States Army from 1950-1952 and the Oklahoma National Guard. Howard was awarded an Army Occupation Medal, Korean Service Medal, a combat infantry badge and one battle star. He was a member of the 179th Regiment Association, Company I, 45th Infantry Division and Disabled American Veterans. In addition, he was a member of the Elks Lodge and a past member of the Independent Order of Odd Fellows. He worked in construction and engineering before retirement. He was married to Glenda F. Webb and later to Connie Faye Gottfried. Graveside services will be 10:00 a.m. Thursday, April 20, 2006 at Grace Hill Memorial Pavilion at Grace Hill Cemetery in Perry. Gerald Stewart will officiate. Services are under the direction of Brown-Dugger Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to the Company I Memorial Fund in care of Brown-Dugger Funeral Home, 1010 N. 7th Street, Perry, Oklahoma 73077. A family visitation will be held from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Wednesday, April 19, 2006 at Brown-Dugger Funeral Home. Howard is survived by two daughters, Gemma Lee Loveless, of Perry, Oklahoma and Rindy Lucritia Kendle, of Lawton, Oklahoma; two sons, Nickey Kendle, of Casa Grande, Arizona, and Alan J. Kendle, of Blackwell, Oklahoma; one brother, Ralph E. Kendle, of Perry, Oklahoma; one sister, Leona Stickney, of Cushing, Oklahoma; seven grandchildren, and nine great-grandchildren.
