Herman Feken

Herman Arthur Feken, 97, of Perry, Oklahoma, was born December 11, 1911 at the family farm ten miles northwest of Perry, Oklahoma and died February 16, 2009. He was one of eight children, born to Folkert and Wilhemina Bose Feken. He is the last surviving child of eight children. He attended Happy Hill community public school, one mile south of his home. On May 2, 1935, he married Olva Olvena Conklin from Billings, Oklahoma, at the Conklin family home. He was in his teens when he and his older brother Carl had to take over the farming due to the death of his father. This was quite and undertaking for two teenage boys, but there were seven children and their mother to care for. Herman enjoyed playing baseball and fishing and always planted and watched things grow in the garden and the wheat in the fields. He was a member and served as an elder of both the Polo Christian Church and the First Christian Church in Perry. Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Thursday, February 19, 2009 at the First Christian Church. Rev. Martin Foster will officiate. Interment will be in Polo Cemetery. Services are under the direction of Brown-Dugger Funeral Home of Perry. Memorials may be made to the First Christian Church in care of Brown-Dugger Funeral Home, 1010 N. 7th Street, Perry, Oklahoma 73077 Herman is survived by his wife, Olva Feken; one daughter, Mary Margaret Snyder and her husband, Larry, of Prague, Oklahoma; one daughter-in-law, Jeanette Feken of Moore, Oklahoma; three grandsons, Ronald Feken and his wife Sandra, of League City, Texas, Jesse Snyder and his wife Gina, of Prague, Oklahoma and John Snyder and his wife Donna, of Minco, Oklahoma; four granddaughters, Kimberly Partin and her husband, Jeff, of Jenks, Oklahoma, Sondra Perkins and her husband, Chris, of Prosper, Texas, Susanna Snyder and her friend, Robert Pope, of Stillwater, Oklahoma and Jill Nematpour and her husband, Amir, of Prague, Oklahoma; nineteen great-grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, one son, Jerry Jerome Feken, four brothers, Bill Feken, Carl Feken, Fred Feken and Edward Feken, and three sisters, Grace Feken, Jennie Skala and Anna Kukuk.
