Gladys H. White, 74, of Perry, Oklahoma, passed away on Thursday, October 28, 2004 at 11:30 a.m. in Carmel, Indiana at the home of her daughter, Sherry Winter. Gladys Ione Hobbs was born outside of Pond Creek, Oklahoma on August 12, 1930. She was the third child of William S. and Lucy Mae Tucker Hobbs. Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Monday, November 1, 2004 at the Perry Church of Christ, 920 Seventh Street with Gerald Stewart officiating. Committal will be at 4:00 p.m. in Sunset Memorial Gardens, 6500 S. Perkins Road in Stillwater, Oklahoma. Services are under the direction of Brown-Dugger Funeral Home in Perry, Oklahoma. Memorials may be made to the Perry Church of Christ or the Perry Senior Citizens Center in care of Brown-Dugger Funeral Home. She graduated from Pittsburg High School in Pittsburg, Oklahoma in 1948. Gladys married Wendell V. White in Stillwater, Oklahoma on May 4, 1951. He preceded her in death on May 20, 2003. She graduated from Oklahoma A M in 1952. While living in Garvin County, Wendell and Gladys had two children, Donald Wade White and Sherry Kay White, both born in Pauls Valley, Oklahoma. In 1961 the couple moved to Perry, Oklahoma where they lived until moving to Coyle, Oklahoma in 1966. In 1967 Gladys began teaching business and typing at Coyle High School. In 1970 Wendell and Gladys moved to Mulhall-Orlando were she was employed by the Mulhall-Orlando High School as the business, journalism and typing teacher. In 1976 they returned to Perry although Gladys continued to teach at the Mulhall-Orlando High School until her retirement in June 1989. She was a long time member of the Perry Church of Christ. Gladys is survived by one son, Donald White of Midwest City, Oklahoma; one daughter, Sherry Winter and her husband, Mark, of Carmel, Indiana; three grandchildren, Erin Winter, Andrea Winter and Grant Winter, all of Carmel, Indiana; four sisters, Ethel Mae Bell of McAlester, Oklahoma, Juanita Williams of Pittsburg, Oklahoma, Geneva Vaughan of McAlester, Oklahoma and Janelle Beaver of Kiowa, Oklahoma; and one brother, Leonard St. Clair Hobbs of Pittsburg, Texas. She is preceded in death by her husband, Wendell V. White, her mother, Lucy Mae Hobbs, her father, William St. Clair Hobbs, two brothers, William Francis Hobbs and Lloyd Thomas Hobbs and one sister, Alice McDugle.
