George J. Harlow Sr., 82, of Stillwater, Oklahoma, formerly of Perry, Oklahoma was the son of George Thomas and Mattie Cole Harlow. He was born July 19, 1923 in Perry, Oklahoma and died Wednesday, August 17, 2005 at Stillwater Medical Center in Stillwater, Oklahoma. He was at a CCC camp until World War II broke out, then he joined the United States Air Force. He was stationed in the states during World War II. After leaving the Air Force, he joined the United States Army. While in the Army, he served in the Korean War as a Combat Engineer. He received a Korean Service Medal, two Bronze Stars and a Good Conduct Medal before he was honorably discharged from military service. George and Ruby M. Brown were married on December 27, 1954. He worked as a truck driver for R. L. Frailey for many years before retirement. He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and the Moose Lodge. George enjoyed cooking, fishing, camping and driving his truck. Funeral will be at 10:00 a.m. Monday, August 22, 2005 in the Brown-Dugger Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will be in Grace Hill Cemetery at Perry. Services will be under the direction of Brown-Dugger Funeral Home of Perry. Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association or Carter Hospice in care of Brown-Dugger Funeral Home, 1010 N. 7th Street, Perry, OK 73077. In addition to his wife, Ruby, survivors are three sons, George J. Harlow Jr., of Perry, Oklahoma and Richard L. Harlow and Denham R. Harlow, both of Stillwater, Oklahoma; three daughters, Betty M. Burleson, of Ripley, Oklahoma, Helen M. Robertson of Stillwater, Oklahoma and Beverly J. Burkett, of Pawnee, Oklahoma; one brother, Thomas Harlow, of Georgetown, Texas; one sister, Roberta Craig, of Elizabethtown, North Carolina; 13 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. George was preceded in death by his parents, four brothers, Jess Harlow, Leonard Waggner, Ralph Waggner and Denham Harlow; and four sisters, Martha Harlow, Lillie Miller, Elizabeth Harlow and Erline Waggner.
