George Craig Hargrove, 73 of Perry, Oklahoma was the son of Nolan Washington and Annie Elizabeth Brewer Hargrove. He was born September 2, 1930 in Nashville, Tennessee and died Saturday, August 8, 2004 at his residence in Perry, Oklahoma. George served his country in the United States Army. He retired from the U.S. Army after serving twenty years from 1947 to 1967. He attained the rank of Sergeant First Class. He and JoAnn Nida were married in Nashville, Tennessee in 1972. George assisted her in raising her eight children. Memorial services will be Friday, August 20, 2004 at Perry Lake Pavilion with Rev. Nancy Smith officiating. He is survived by his step-children, Cheryl Jeter of Stillwater, Oklahoma, Nancy Smith of Hennessey, Oklahoma, Shirley Battles of Blackwell, Oklahoma, Ethel England of Montrose, Colorado, Junior Nida and Hank Nida, both of Perry, Oklahoma, and Willy Nida of Hodgen, Oklahoma; fourteen grandchildren, Brandon Jeter, William Jeter, Earl Smith, Chris Smith, Jared Smith, Josh Thompson, Carrie Chitwood, Justin Nida, George Gann, Cheree Lipe, Savanna Nida, Makinzie Nida, Meghan England and Tallye England; several great-grandchildren; one sister, Linda Gezley of Nashville, Tennessee; two brothers, Charlie Hargrove and Robert Hargrove of Nashville, Tennessee; and two special friends, Mike and Ann Umstead of Perry, Oklahoma.
