George Bezdicek

George F. Bezdicek, 86, of Perry, Oklahoma, was born on a farm southeast of Perry, Oklahoma on January 5, 1922. His parents were Frank and Mary Kosnar Bezdicek, who had come to Perry from Czechoslovakia with their parents. George died Friday, November 14, 2008 at the Green Valley Nursing Home. George attended a one room school, Pikes Peak District 79 located southeast of Perry near the family farm. George attended Pikes Peak through the eighth grade and then attended Perry schools and also Stillwater schools specializing in mechanics. George served his country in the United States Army Air Corp, serving during WW II. He served with the bomber wing group that dropped the atomic bomb over Japan. He was responsible for mounting the camera on the Enola Gay. After his service to his country, George returned home to Perry and purchased land near the family farm and cared for his aging mother until her death. George was a farmer and rancher who loved working the land and his cattle, but his true passion was mechanics. He especially enjoyed buying old bulldozers and repairing them. He loved spending time listening to polka music and dancing. Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, November 19, 2008 at the First Baptist Church in Perry. Brother Aaron Summers will officiate. Interment will be in Grace Hill Cemetery. Services are under the direction of Brown-Dugger Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to the Perry Memorial Hospital Foundation or the First Baptist Church in care of Brown-Dugger Funeral Home, 1010 N. 7th Street, Perry, Oklahoma 73077. George is survived by one sister, Helen Owen of Wichita, Kansas; one sister-in-law, Wilma Bezdicek of Perry, Oklahoma; six nieces, Sandra Van Kleeck and her husband, Kerry, of Belleville, Wisconsin, Peggy Linstromberg and her husband, Bill, of Sand Springs, Oklahoma, Pamela Lansden of Perry, Oklahoma, Trena Stebbins of Derby, Kansas, Vanessa Russell and her husband, Doug, of Wichita, Kansas and Mary Louise Cermak and her husband, Rodney, of Perry, Oklahoma and two nephews, Frank Hernandez of Wichita, Kansas and Johnny Heppler and his wife, LeAnn, of Perry, Oklahoma. He was preceded in death by his parents, one sister, Rose Heppler and one brother, Albert Bert Bezdicek.
