Geneva Hannah

February 15, 1925 — September 13, 2020

Geneva Pauline (Genie) Forbes Hannah, 95 ½ died September 13, 2020 in her home in Perry, Oklahoma. Genie was born February 15, 1925 in Chickasaw, Oklahoma, the daughter of Thomas Austin and Bessie Ann (Boland) Forbes. She was the youngest of six girls; Bessie (Jewel) Meads; Alice Ruth (Tob) Terry; Allis Mae (Al) Bridges Easterling, Minnie Loraine Fleming, and Eva Gertrude Mills. Genie lived in Rush Springs, Ok and married a soldier in the army, William (Benny) Everett Oden in 1942. The couple had two children; a son, William Everett and a daughter, Marji Lynn. Genie became a widow in 1951 when her husband was captured and died as a prisoner of war in the Korean Conflict. Genie earned her L.P.N. license having been tutored by Dr. William (Bill) Gyles. She worked for him several years and eventually married him in 1957. They had one daughter, Jennie Elizabeth Gyles. Dr. Gyles passed away in 1961. Genie moved her family to Enid, Ok. Where she worked at St. Mary’s Hospital for several years. In 1963 she moved her family to Perry, OK. As she has procured a job at the Perry Nursing Home. Later she worked at Perry Memorial Hospital where she made many close friends. She married Ralph H. Hannah in 1967. He passed away in June of 2003. Genie was a strong Christian woman who devoted much of her time serving her church. She was an active member of the 1st United Methodist Church of Perry, OK. Genie participated in Bible studies; choir; church committees and prayer groups consisting of several women who meet every Thursday and prayed for people in need as well as the church itself. She was preceded in death by her parents; four of her siblings, Bessie Meads, Alice Terry, Allis Easterling, Minnie Fleming; four partners Mst. Sargent William E. Oden, Dr. William Gyles, Ralph Hannah, and A.J. Bontrager; her son, William E. Oden; stepson David Gyles and a granddaughter Jennie Marie Maiocco Wheeler. She leaves behind her daughter Marji Oden Maiocco and her husband Bob Maiocco; J. Elizabeth Gyles Johnson and her husband Rev. Dr. Rockford Johnson, also two daughter- in- laws, Joan Oden Bevington, and Alice Oden; Grandchildren, Robert A. Maiocco II, and his fiancé Amy (Russell) Shalz, Dr. Ryan W. Oden and wife Michelle, Carol (Oden) Pakri, husband Meelis Pakri, Micah Johnson, Kate (Johnson) Dameron and husband Randy; great grandchildren, Robert (Robb) P. Ralph and wife Megan (Swanson) Ralph, Alexander (Alex) M. Ralph, Jacob Elliot and wife, Chloe Oden, Oskar Pakri, Jack Maiocco, Tyler Maiocco, and many nieces and nephews. Genie also leaves behind her very well-loved dog Marlee. Visitation will be held on Friday September 18, 2020 from 10:00am to 7:00pm. There will be a private family grave side service at Grace Hill Cemetery in Perry, OK  on Saturday September 19, 2020 under the care of Brown-Dugger Funeral Home. Friends are invited to Genie’s house at 12:30pm on Saturday, September 19, 2020 for a celebration of Genie’s life. Please wear a mask. In leu of flowers, friends may make contributions in Genie’s memory to the 1st United Methodist Church of Perry, OK.
