Gene DeGraffenried, 70, of Perry, Oklahoma, was born November 19, 1940 in Pittsburg County in Ash Creek Community near McAlister, Oklahoma. He was the son of Raymond and Vernie Allen DeGraffenried. On July 15, 1959, he and Pat Gibson were married at Garden City, Kansas. He passed from this life on Wednesday, August 10, 2011 at St. Anthony Hospital in Oklahoma City. Gene was a very successful business man. He was a roofer by trade for over fifty five years. He was the owner and operator of Genes Roofing for forty of those years. He was known and respected by everyone in his community. Gene was a very freehearted giving person. He loved his family more than life itself. He was always more concerned about others. He enjoyed spending time on his farm, raising dogs, coon hunting, fishing, following his grandchildrens activities, riding his Arctic Cat, riding his mule, and hanging out with his friends. He was a member of the First Baptist Church, Coon Hunters Club, Sr. Cs Coffee Club, and McDonalds Breakfast Club. Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, August 13, 2011 at the First Baptist Church in Perry, Oklahoma. Brother Aaron Summers will officiate assisted by Pastor Brett Nation. Interment will be in Grace Hill Cemetery. Funeral Services are under the direction of BrownDugger Funeral Home. Family will receive friends 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Friday, August 12, 2011 at BrownDugger Funeral Home. Gene is survived by his wife Pat DeGraffenried, of the home and four children Gary DeGraffenried, Pam Groom and her husband Jeff , Shelia Zerr and her husband Jim, Michael DeGraffenried and his wife, Emily all of Perry, Oklahoma one brother Roger DeGraffenried and Maddie one sister Sharon Vickers and her husband, Ron all of McAlester, Oklahoma ten grandchildren Tiffany Richey and her husband Max of Sand Springs, Oklahoma, Shaina Graham and her husband, Jeff of Perry, Oklahoma, Hailey Payne and her husband Clayton of Stillwater, Oklahoma, Taylor and Cooper Groom of Perry, Oklahoma, Brittany and Brook Zerr both of Perry, Oklahoma, Amanda DeGraffenried of Stillwater, Oklahoma, Aimee and Harley DeGraffenried both of Perry, Oklahoma one sister in law, Sue Wiley and her husband, Harry of St. Cloud, Florida six greatgrandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, one infant sister, Shirley DeGraffenried, one nephew Larry DeGraffenried and one sister in law, Della May DeGraffenried.
