Fred Kime

Fred Kime, 78, of Garber, Oklahoma, was the youngest son of William and Elizabeth Greenfield Kime. He was born on September 28, 1929 in Seminole, Oklahoma and died Saturday, May 3, 2008 at St. Mary's Hospital in Enid, Oklahoma. He was a 1947 graduate of Seminole High School, who served his country in the United States Navy from March of 1948 through 1952. He was stationed in San Diego, California serving in the Pacific. During his final two years of duty he served in combat during the Korean War. He was a fire controlman, 2nd class gunnery
ision aboard the destroyer the USS Rupertus. He received the Navy Occupation Service Medal, Korean Service Medal, United Nations Service Medal. On October 19, 1957, Fred married Fredys Ann Lippel in Vinita, Oklahoma. They celebrated their 50th Wedding Anniversary in October of 2007. Fred was a graduate of Oklahoma Baptist University in 1957 with a degree in Chemistry. He worked as a chemist for Mobil Oil Company for three years in Augusta, Kansas. He then continued his education receiving a bachelor's degree in Pharmacy from the University of Oklahoma in 1963. Fred worked as a Pharmacist in Norman, Oklahoma, Gilmer, Texas and El Reno, Oklahoma until 1971. In 1971 he and his wife Fredys purchased Garber Drug which they owned until his retirement in 1995. He was an active member of the First Baptist Church in Garber, Garber Chamber of Commerce, Oklahoma Pharmaceutical Association and the USS Rupertus Association. Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, May 6, 2008 at the First Baptist Church in Garber. Pastor Tom LeGrand will officiate. Interment will be in Garber Cemetery. Services are under the direction of Dugger Funeral Home of Garber. Memorials may be made to the First Baptist Church, American Diabetes Association or Oklahoma Medical Research Foundation Stroke Unit in care of Dugger Funeral Home, P.O. Box 66, Garber, Oklahoma 73738. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 pm. Monday, May 5, 2008 at Dugger Funeral Home in Garber. Fred is survived by his wife, Fredys of the home, two daughters Paula White and her husband Douglas of Ponca City, Oklahoma, Diane Waggoner and her husband Lee of Billings, Oklahoma; two sisters Lillian Hall of Mustang, Oklahoma and Doris Hudson of Moore, Oklahoma; three grandsons Caleb and Joshua White of Ponca City, Oklahoma Wyatt Waggoner of Billings, Oklahoma, one granddaughter McKenna Waggoner of Billings, Oklahoma. He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers; Bob and George Kime, five sisters; Mildred Philpott, Alice Smith, Ruth Enochs, Elsie Crawford, Helen Roberson, an infant daughter and son.
