Francis Herde, 101, of Billings, Oklahoma was the son of August Ludwig and Susan George Herde. He was born January 28, 1907 at Soldier, Kansas and died Sunday, January 4, 2009 at St. Mary's Regional Medical Center at Enid, Oklahoma. Francis moved to Billings in 1923. On September 1, 1931, he and Ruth Morris were married at Howard, Kansas. In 1938, Francis became a G.E. dealer and operated Herde's Electric in Billings, a business that later would achieve the distinction of being the oldest G.E. dealership in the nation. Francis attended the Billings Christian Church. He was interested in antique clocks and pocket watches, collected antiques and enjoyed playing the French harp. Funeral services will be at 1:00 p.m. Friday, January 9, 2009 at the Christian Church in Billings. Kent Reubell will officiate. Interment will be in the Union Cemetery at Billings. Services will be under the direction of Dugger Funeral Home of Billings. Memorials may be made to Hospice of North Central Oklahoma in care of Dugger Funeral Home, P.O. Francis is survived by two sons, Morris Herde and his wife, Dee, of Kaw City, Oklahoma and Dale Herde, of Billings, Oklahoma; two daughters, Clarice Everhart and her husband, Harley, of Gig Harbor, Washington and Loretta Myers, of Blackwell, Oklahoma; 14 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren and two sisters, Lois Jane Russell, of Stillwater, Oklahoma and Doris Ratliff, of Savannah, Georgia. He was preceded in death by his wife, Ruth, who died in 1997; one daughter, Carol; his parents, four brothers and one sister.
