Floyd F. Fortney, 87, of Douglas, Oklahoma was the son of John F. and Blanche Terrell Fortney. He was born September 5, 1920 at Douglas, Oklahoma and died Thursday, November 29, 2007 at his home. A life-long resident of Garfield County, Floyd was a graduate of Douglas High School and Enid Business College. He and Alyce Marietta Kramer were married on November 29, 1939 at Douglas, Oklahoma. Alyce preceded her husband in death on January 3, 1986. Floyd was a World War II veteran who served his country in the United States Navy from February 8, 1945 until April 14, 1946. He was an airplane mechanic during his military service. He farmed and was a rural mail carrier in the Douglas community until he retired. Floyd was a member of the Douglas Christian Union Church and the Masonic Lodge. Funeral services will be at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, December 1, 2007 at the Douglas Christian Union Church. Tommy Donaldson will officiate. Interment will be in the Douglas Union Cemetery. Services are under the direction of Brown-Dugger Funeral Home of Perry, Oklahoma. Memorials may be made to the Lucien United Methodist Church in care of Brown-Dugger Funeral Home, 1010 N. 7th Street, Perry, Oklahoma 73077. Floyd is survived by two daughters, Vicki Harmon and her husband, Don, of Orlando, Oklahoma and Cathie Benes and her husband, Kelley, of Perry, Oklahoma; seven grandchildren, Matt Harmon and his wife, Susan, of Covington, Oklahoma, Mark Harmon and his wife, Shelly, of Orlando, Oklahoma, Tori Robison and her husband, Jason, of Cashion, Oklahoma, Brock Vorndran and his wife, Hillary, of Perry, Oklahoma, Kim Weber and her husband, Gene, of San Pedro, California, Lance Fortney and his wife, Amber, of Perry, Oklahoma, and Tiffany George and her husband, Shaun, of Stillwater, Oklahoma; 12 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren. In addition to his wife, Alyce, Floyd was preceded in death by his parents, John F. and Blanche Fortney; one son, John Nicholas Fortney; one grandson, Trent Allen Vorndran; one sister, Norma Ruth Wilcox; and one brother, Lloyd Ray Fortney.
