Evelyn M. Brown, 87, of Perry, Oklahoma was the daughter of Harry Omer and Florence Stella Cook Green. She was born September 6, 1922 at Garber, Oklahoma and died Thursday, September 24, 2009 at Green Valley Nursing Home. On December 29, 1943, she and Arthur Merton Brown were married at St. Luke's Methodist Church in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. The couple established their first home in Oklahoma City where they lived until her husband completed medical school. Dr. and Mrs. Brown later moved to Colorado City, Texas where he operated a private medical practice for one year. They moved to Perry in 1950. Evelyn was a registered nurse who worked in the children's ward at Mercy Hospital. She was an active member of the First United Methodist Church and a member of the Petunia Garden Club. She and her husband were active in the community and volunteered at Operation Blessing. They were named Good Citizens by the Perry Masonic Lodge and were recognized as Citizens of the Year by the Perry Chamber of Commerce. Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m. Monday, September 28, 2009 at the First United Methodist Church in Perry. Rev. Ed Cook will officiate. Interment will be in Grace Hill Cemetery. Services are under the direction of Brown-Dugger Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to the First United Methodist Church, the Oklahoma Medical Research Foundation, Methodist Boys Ranch or Companion Hospice in care of Brown-Dugger Funeral Home, 1010 N. 7th Street, Perry, Oklahoma 73077. The family will receive friends Sunday, September 27, 2009 from 6:00 to 8:00 pm at Brown-Dugger Funeral Home. Evelyn is survived by one son, Mickey and his wife, Debby, of Perry, Oklahoma; one daughter, Ginger, of College Station, Texas; two grandsons, Jeffrey, of Perry, Oklahoma and John and his wife, Sungmi, of Kansas City, Kansas; one great-granddaughter, Hanl Brown of Kansas City, Kansas. In addition to her husband, Dr. Arthur M. Brown, Evelyn was preceded in death by her parents, Harry and Florence Green, four brothers and three sisters.
