Elizabeth Wilba Astle, 94, of Blackwell, Oklahoma, died Thursday, October 5, 2006 at the Integris Blackwell Hospital. Elizabeth was born December 19, 1911 in Ruston, Louisiana to Augustine and LylaYounse Breeden. Funeral Service will be held at 10:00a.m., Monday, October 9, 2006 at the Dugger Funeral Home Chapel, the family has chosen closed casket Rev. Larry Adkisson of the First United Methodist Church in Blackwell, Oklahoma will be the officiant. Burial will be conducted at the Blackwell Cemetery under the direction of Dugger Funeral Home in Blackwell, Oklahoma. Memorials may be made to the Larry Jones Feed The Children in care of Dugger Funeral Home, 301 W. Blackwell, Blackwell, Oklahoma 74631. Elizabeth lived in Ruston, Louisiana until the age of fourteen. She attended elementary school in Calhoun, Louisiana. Then moved to Manhatten, Kansas in 1925 graduating from Manhatten High School. She also attended Kansas State University for two and a half years. She was united in marriage July 21, 1938 to Dr. Neville Lavon Astle in Liberty, Missouri. She lived in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma from 1940-1941. Then she traveled for 6 months to several towns working with the government. She and her husband moved to Blackwell in 1943 where her husband had a veterinary clinic .Elizabeth was a homemaker and a community volunteer. Her husband preceded her in death July 22, 2001. Her memberships included the First United Methodist Church, The Red Cross, and the United Way. She also was a vistor to shut-ins for eleven years, food service supervisor at the church and served on the open house committee for the Country Club for two years. Elizabeth is survived by two sons; Jon N. Astle and his wife Linda , of Phoenix, Arizona and Dale L. Astle of Tulsa, Oklahoma; one daughter, Lynn Murphy and her husband Dale, of Bartlesville, Oklahoma; one sister, Grace Mitchell Hoyt of Missouri ; six grandchildren; Todd Murphy and his wife Jennifer , of Bartlesville, Oklahoma, Wade Murphy and his wife Bridgett, of Edmond, Oklahoma, Sydney Malone and her husband Patrick, of Bartlesville, Oklahoma, Holly Astle, Romley Astle, Shelly Astle all of Phoenix, Arizona and nine great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, infant daughter Elizabeth Ann Astle and one brother, Augustine Y. Breeden.
