Doyle Meyer

Doyle Virgil Meyer, 76, of Marshall, Oklahoma was the son of Anthony Franklin and Anna Berger Meyer. He was born September 11, 1932 at Orlando, Oklahoma and died Monday, April 27, 2009 at the Integris Baptist Hospital in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. Doyle served his country in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict. On July 4, 1953, he and Pauline Helen Kaiser were married at Covington, Oklahoma. Doyle was a farmer, raised cattle and had worked in the oilfield until the late 1960s. He served on the Covington School Board and was a member of the board of directors of the Douglas Co-Op and the Garden Heights Housing Development board. He was a member of the Covington Lions Club and American Legion and enjoyed attending military reunions. His hobbies included attending threshing bees and steam engine shows and washing and waxing his tractors. Doyle was a member of the United Methodist Church of Covington. Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m. Friday, May 1, 2009 at the United Methodist Church in Covington, Oklahoma. Rev. Tommy Donaldson will officiate. Interment will be in the Covington Cemetery. Services are under the direction of Brown-Dugger Funeral Home. The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Thursday, April 30, 2009 at Brown-Dugger Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to the United Methodist Church of Covington in care of Brown-Dugger Funeral Home, 1010 N. 7th Street, Perry, Oklahoma 73077. In addition to his wife, Pauline, Doyle is survived by three sons, James Meyer and his wife, Patricia, and Alvin Meyer and his wife, Cheryl, all of Covington, Oklahoma and Greg Meyer and his wife, Rhonda, of Perry, Oklahoma; five grandchildren, Kay Scott and her husband, Ernie, of Enid, Oklahoma, Austin Meyer and his wife, Mindy, of Herringswell, England, Julie Stowers and her husband, Mike, of Garber, Oklahoma and Colby Meyer and Amber Meyer, both of Covington, Oklahoma; four great-grandchildren, McKayla Scott and Hunter Scott, both of Enid, Oklahoma; Allie Stowers, of Garber, Oklahoma and Ashley Meyer, of Herringswell, England; two brothers, Donald Meyer, of Perry, Oklahoma and Ivan Berger, of Ponca City, Oklahoma; and two sisters, Cleo Kudlac, of Yukon, Oklahoma and Irma Trompler, of Tulsa, Oklahoma. Doyle was preceded in death by his parents, Anthony and Anna Meyer; one son, Lynn Meyer; two brothers, Dale Meyer and Cecil Meyer; and two sisters, Vivian Smith and Mildred Linden.
