Dorothy (Campbell) Golay was born April 20, 1924 in Perry. She was the daughter of George and Lula (Yarrington) Campbell. She went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Monday, June 1, 2015 at Green Valley Nursing Home in Perry, Oklahoma at the age of 91 years.
She married the late Bob Golay on October 30, 1944 in Ponca City, Oklahoma and to this union were born five children, Dennis, Sharon, Alvin, John, and Ronny. They moved to Orlando in 1964 and became active in the First Christian Church. Dorothy was a homemaker, served as a Sunday school teacher and cleaned the church for many years. She was a member of the Orlando Ladies Circle, where she enjoyed quilting and fellowship with other ladies in the community.
Dorothy could often times be found reading her Bible which she loved dearly. She enjoyed sewing, crocheting, raising pigs and chickens, and flowers. But more than anything, Dorothy loved her grandchildren. Every Sunday, her family could count on Dorothy to have a Sunday dinner that she prepared whole-heartedly by herself. She was known for her amazing made from scratch bread and chicken and noodles.
She is survived by her five children, Dennis Golay of Orlando, Sharon Harman and her husband, Sam of Orlando, Alvin Golay of Perry, Ronny Golay of Perry, and John Golay and wife, Kathy of Orlando; 11 grandchildren, Troy Golay and wife, Michelle, Stacy Golay and wife, Kyla, Dawayne Golay and wife, Raelene, Shawna Golay and husband, Calvin, Brad Harman, Carrie Sitton and husband, Craig, Kristy Carter, Kayla Stewart and husband, Joey, Justie Golay and wife, Tiffany, David Golay, Bobbie Golay; 16 great-grandchildren, Chance, Hunter, Cade, Kayle, Cody, Levi, Micha, Conner, Dylan, Briley, Korbyn, Will, Hudson, Ben, Jadeyn, Logan; two great-great-grandchildren, Kayden and Kinedy; one sister-in-law that was raised practically as a daughter, Mary Sue Roberts and husband, Clyde; numerous nieces and nephews, and many other children that considered Dorothy to be their grandma.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and two sisters, Hazel Crispin and Alta Wilson; and three brothers, Lester Campbell, Ralph Campbell and Kenneth Campbell.
Services will be held at 10am, Friday, June 5, 2015 at the First Christian Church in Orlando, OK with Pastor Gilbert Forrest officiating. Burial will follow in Morris Heights Cemetery in Orlando.
