Doris Gleason

Doris Mae Granny Gleason, 89, of Perry, Oklahoma, was the daughter of John and Muriel Hughes Yowell. She was born July 17, 1924 in Perry, Oklahoma and died Saturday, July 27, 2013 at her residence. Doris attended and graduated from Hayward High School. She married her best friend and sweetheart, George Denny Gleason on November 3, 1945 at the First Baptist Church in Perry, Oklahoma, Rev. James V. Gray officiating. To this union were born four children, John, Ted, Tonya and Todd. George preceded her in death on July 1, 1990. She always enjoyed working at J.C. Penneys and had wonderful memories of working there. Doris loved to meet and talk to the people that shopped there, especially the children. Doris was a long time member of the First Baptist Church where she attended Sunday School Class and Worship services. She enjoyed the Sunday School Classes the most. Doris worked many years in the nursery with Pansy Toone. She loved rocking the babies in the nursery and over the years took care of many generations of families. The family would like to thank all those who came to visit mother, who called to ask how she was doing and especially all who prayed for her. Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, July 31, 2013 at the First Baptist Church, in Perry, Oklahoma. Deacon Bob Edgar will officiate. Interment will be at Grace Hill Cemetery in Perry, Oklahoma. Services are under the direction of BrownDugger Funeral Home. Family will received friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, July 30, 2013 at BrownDugger Funeral Home in Perry, Oklahoma. Memorials may be made to the OMRF Cirrhosis Division in care of BrownDugger Funeral Home, 1010 N. 7th Street, Perry, Oklahoma 73077. Doris is survived by her son, John Terry of Las Vegas, Nevada her daughter, Tonya Srader of Perry, Oklahoma sister, Sara Jo Musick of Perry, Oklahoma sisterinlaws, Ruby Gleason and Norma Yowell of Perry, Oklahoma grandchildren, Steven Gleason, James Thompson, Joy Powell and her husband, Robert all of Perry, Oklahoma six greatgrandchildren, Tyler Thompson, Brittany Thompson, Quinton Powell, Austin Powell, Brayden Powell and Karsten Powell all of Perry, Oklahoma many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by husband, George Gleason sons, Todd Allen and Ted Wayne both parents, John and Muriel Yowell brother, Robert Yowell.
