Doris Downs, 85, of Amarillo, Texas, was the daughter of William Bill and Beulah Dinah Martin Chaney. She was born on August 23, 1922 in Abilene, Texas and died at her home on Monday, March 17, 2008. On December 20, 1945, Doris married Reginald Bud Downs in Abilene, Texas. He preceded her in death on December 15, 1998. Funeral services will be 3:30 p.m. Friday, March 21, 2008 in the Brown-Dugger Funeral Home Chapel in Perry, Oklahoma. Rev. Ed Cook will officiate. Interment will be in Grace Hill Cemetery. Services are under the direction of Brown-Dugger Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to Free to Live Animal Sanctuary in Oklahoma or the charity of the donor's choice in care of Brown-Dugger Funeral Home, 1010 N. 7th Street, Perry, Oklahoma 73077. Doris is survived by one sister, Dorothy Cockrum and her husband, Alvin, of Perry, Oklahoma; two nephews, Randy Cockrum and his wife, Sandy, of Perry, Oklahoma and Mike Peed of Bozeman, Montana; two nieces, Candye Chavez of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma and Michelle Hasenfratz and her husband, Adam, of Edmond, Oklahoma; one niece-in-law, Earline Cockrum of Perry, Oklahoma; two great-nephews, Bryan Chavez of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma and Paul Cockrum and his wife, Shelly, of Fort Worth, Texas and six great-nieces, Erin Kennedy and her husband, Tom, of Enid, Oklahoma, Holly Hasenfratz of Edmond, Oklahoma, Sheila Presley of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, Shelly Johnson of Virginia Beach, Virginia, April Sewell and her husband, Cody, of Perry, Oklahoma and Emerald Cockrum of Edmond, Oklahoma. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, one sister, Melrose Mel Peed, one brother-in-law, Hal Peed and one nephew, Chris Cockrum.
