Dale Edward Engle was born October 12, 1931 in Three Sands, Oklahoma to Otis "Dick" Carl and Elsie (Snyder) Engle. He went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Saturday, May 16, 2015 in Sherman, Texas at the age of 83.
Dale graduated from Ryan High School, class of 1948. After graduation, he was drafted in to the United States Army during the Korean War. Dale served a total of eight years, four years in active duty and four years in reserves. On June 3, 1960, Dale Engle and Nadine Robison were united in marriage in Meeker, Oklahoma at the Robison's estate. Dale and Nadine made Garber their home from 1962 to 2010, moving then to Durant. Dale owned and operated D & D construction where he was contracted out to ARCO Oilfield. He retired in 1986 when he and Nadine decided to become full time house parents for the Oklahoma Baptist Home for children in Owasso. Dale was a long term member of the First Baptist Church in Garber. He also attended church at Liberty Southern Baptist Church in Enid and Blue Baptist Church in Connerville. Pastor Ben Kimbrough led Dale to the Lord in 1962. Dale enjoyed wood working, mowing and taking care of his yard. But more than anything, he loved spending time with his children and grandchildren.
Dale is survived by his wife, Nadine of the Durant home; five children, Nancy Dinsmore and her husband, Steve of Durant, Gregg Engle and his wife, Krystal of Durant, Eva Jo Welchel and her husband, Jurl of Meeker, Joel Engle and his wife, Valerie of Anchorage, and Mary Ruth Kirtley and her husband, Richard of Meno; one sister, Mary Payne of Mounds; one brother, Glen Engle and his wife, Gerry of Taft, CA; one sister-in-law, Betty Engle of Ponca City; 15 grandchildren, Mike Dinsmore (Brooke), Maci Gibby (Bobby), Whitney Cacho (Aaron), Kallie Moore (Micah), Aaron Johnston (Kayla), Torie Engle, Dylan Johnston, Dalton Johnston, Will Engle, Wesley Engle, Madeline Kirtey, Elizabeth Engle, Evelyn Engle, Elaine Engle, and Ethan Engle; and five great-grandchildren with one on the way. He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers, and one sister.
The Engle family will be greeting friends and family from 6pm to 8pm, Tuesday, May 19, 2015 at Dugger Funeral Home in Garber. Funeral services will be 2pm, Wednesday, May 20, 2015 at the First Baptist Church in Garber with Reverend Tom LeGrand officiating. Interment will follow in union Cemetery in Billings, Oklahoma.
