Curtis Myers Pancoast of Sumner, Oklahoma went to his heavenly home on May 16, 2021, at the age of 85 years young. In his youth, Curtis was a star athlete attaining all-state status as a point guard from Sumner High School and receiving a basketball scholarship to OSU. He was also an accomplished musician and lover of music as well. While in college he married his high school sweetheart, Danna June Clark of Perry, Oklahoma. After college, Curtis began his career as insurance adjuster in Oklahoma City, later moving to Tulsa. He and Danna had three sons that they raised in Tulsa. He retired from the insurance Industry and returned to the Sumner area where he was raised.
He was proceeded in death by his birth mother and father, Lena Orcutt Myers and Clarence Curtis Myers, as well as his adoptive parents, Melva Orcutt Pancoast and Clarence Paul Pancoast and one son, Jay Paul Pancoast. Curtis is survived by two of his three sons, Stephen Kirby Pancoast and Melanie of Claremore, Oklahoma, Justin Page Pancoast of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma and daughter-in-law, Sherry Pancoast of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma, and his longtime partner, Bonnie Garton. Curtis has 9 grandchildren and 21 great grandchildren (soon to be 23). He was lovingly known to his grandchildren and great grandchildren as “Poppi”.
Services are being handled by Brown-Dugger Funeral Home in Perry, Oklahoma. Viewing will be Thursday 10am-7pm with a reception from 5-7pm. Church services will be held Saturday, May 22, at 2:00 p.m., at Morrison Christian Church, Morrison, Oklahoma, with Roy Fleishman officiating.
