Lifetime Perry resident, Clara Mae Hunt was born July 10, 1926 to Tro Otis and Hannah (Nelson) Snodgrass. She passed away Wednesday, October 21, 2015 at Green Valley Nursing Home in Perry, Oklahoma at the age of 89 years.
In November 1966, Clara Melvin was united in marriage to the late Norman Hunt in Vinita, Oklahoma. Norman preceded her in death on July 19, 1987. Clara was a member of the Church of Christ in Perry, Oklahoma. She was employed as a nurse's aide at Perry Nursing Home for 17 years, Billings Fairchild Center for 10 years and then started working as a home health care aide. Clara had a heart for the elderly and loved visiting with them.
Clara is survived by three sons, Bernard Melvin and his wife, Donna of Springfield, Missouri, Shannon Melvin and his wife, Ruth of Springfield, Missouri, and John Melvin of Perry, Oklahoma; three step-children, Edith Cook, Helen Davis, and Earl Hunt; niece, Euther Snodgrass; 14 grandchildren, numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; one son, Billy Melvin; one daughter, Barbara Lay; one step-son, LeRoy Hunt; two brothers, Alfred Snodgrass and Glen Snodgrass; and one great-great-granddaughter, Adika Williams.
Funeral services will be 10am, Saturday, October 24, 2015 at the Church of Christ in Perry with Gerald Stewart officiating. Interment will follow in Grace Hill Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer's Association in care of Brown-Dugger Funeral Home, 1010 N. 7th, Perry, OK 73077. Arrangements are under the care of Brown-Dugger Funeral Home.
