Cecil Meyer

March 23, 1940 — September 20, 2007

Cecil E. Meyer, 67, of Perry, Oklahoma, was the son of Anthony Franklin and Anna Berger Meyer. He was born on March 23, 1940 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma and died Thursday, September 20, 2007 at his home. Cecil was a 1959 graduate of Orlando High School. He was a lead man in the welding department at Charles Machine Works where he worked for thirty-nine years until retiring in 1998. Cecil enjoyed spending time with family and friends, but his true passion was farming. The family is grateful to Gene for her loving care as she stood by our father throughout his illness. Cecil established many friendships and acquaintances throughout his life in the Perry area and many helped him with wheat harvesting when it became too much for him to handle. He was grateful to all the caregivers at Judith Karman Hospice and the caregivers he has had in his home, especially Pam Hotson and Jessie Ruiz. Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, September 25, 2007 at the First Presbyterian Church in Perry, Oklahoma. Rev. Marilyn Weathers will officiate. Interment will be in the Zion Cemetery in Orlando, Oklahoma. Services are under the direction of Brown-Dugger Funeral Home. There will be a family visitation from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Monday, September 24, 2007 at the Brown-Dugger Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to the Judith Karman Hospice in care of Brown-Dugger Funeral Home, 1010 N. 7th Street, Perry, Oklahoma 73077. Cecil is survived by his friend and longtime companion, Gene Hemken of Ralston, Oklahoma; one daughter, Gina Meyer of Oakland, California; one son, Jeff Meyer and his wife, Megan, of Perry, Oklahoma; two grandchildren, Summer Meyer of Overland Park, Kansas and Ashley Meyer of Atlanta, Georgia; three brothers, Doyle Meyer of Covington, Oklahoma, Donald Meyer of Perry, Oklahoma and Ivan Berger of Ponca City, Oklahoma; two sisters, Cleo Kudlac of Yukon, Oklahoma, his twin; and Irma Trompler of Tulsa, Oklahoma; and many nieces and nephews.
