Carolyn Gorath

Carolyn Sue Gorath, 71, of Perry, Oklahoma was the daughter of Carl Fredrick and Cathryn Irene Thomas Tiemann. She was born April 28, 1940 in Blackwell, Oklahoma and died Thursday, December 8, 2011 at Select Specialty Hospital in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. She attended rural Kay County schools, Lost Creek and Prairie Chapel and later attended Blackwell Jr. and Sr. High. After graduation from Blackwell High School she went on to obtain her Associates Degree from Northern Oklahoma College. She was baptized in 1940 and confirmed in 1954. Carolyn met her husband and best friend Ernest Gorath and they were married on September 8, 1967 at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Blackwell, Oklahoma. Carolyn spent most of her married life babysitting for others as well as her grandchildren who she loved very much. She enjoyed singing with her husband, Ernest at the Billings Fairchild Center and other nursing homes. She worked for the Blackwell Journal Tribune for seven years. She was a member of the Unit 5 Missionary League, 4H leader, President of the FFA Mothers Club, Member of the Noble County Cattlemens Association and served as a horticultural superintendent at the county fair. Carolyn was a member of the Christ Lutheran Church where she also taught Sunday school. She will be remembered as a loving wife, mother, and grandmother by all her friends and family. Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m. Saturday, December 10, 2011 at the Christ Lutheran Church of Perry. Rev. William Metz will officiate. Interment will be in Grace Hill Cemetery. Services are under the direction of BrownDugger Funeral Home in Perry, Oklahoma. Family will receive friends 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Friday, December 9, 2011 at BrownDugger Funeral Home. Carolyn is survived by her husband Ernest of the home her mother, Cathryn Tiemann of Blackwell, Oklahoma one son, John Gorath and his wife, Staci of Perry, Oklahoma one daughter, Cathy Anderson and her husband, Phil of Perry, Oklahoma two brothers, Carl Ray Tiemann and his wife, Carole of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, Chuck Tiemann and his wife Terri of Elk Mount, Alabama seven grandchildren, Ashley Welch, Kristina Danielson, Jacob Anderson, Jordan Gorath all of Perry, Oklahoma, Justine Gorath of Morrison, Oklahoma, Samantha Danielson and William Anderson of Perry, Oklahoma numerous nieces and nephews.
