Carl E. Strauhs, 87, of Blackwell, Oklahoma died Tuesday, February, 14, 2006 at the Hillcrest Nursing Home in Blackwell, Oklahoma. Carl was born May 7, 1918 in Eldorado, Kansas to Carl Augustus and Bernita Lourine Strauhs. Carl enlisted in the U.S. Army on October 1, 1941 where he served as Corporal with the 165th Field Artillery Battalion before his discharge on December 24, 1945. Carl and Mary Lucille Quinlan were united in marriage in Blackwell, Oklahoma on June 28, 1975. She preceded him in death on October 3, 2005. He worked for Acme Foundry twenty-five years. Carl and Mary were also custodians with First National Bank which later became Central National Bank. Carl loved fishing, woodworking, picking pecans and taking his grandchildren to the orchards. A Graveside Service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, February 17, 2006 at the Blackwell Cemetery with the Rev. Robert Johnson officiating. Services are under the direction of Dugger Funeral Home, Blackwell, Oklahoma. Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association in care of Dugger Funeral Home, 301 W. Blackwell Ave., Blackwell, Oklahoma 74631. Carl is survived by three sons, Bruce Strauhs and his friend, Janet of Tulsa, Oklahoma, Charles Quinlan and his wife, Misty of Blackwell, Oklahoma, Bob Quinlan of Las Vegas, Nevada; three daughters, Virginia Bradley and her husband, Jerry, Debbie Whicker all of Blackwell, Oklahoma, Beverly Kensley of New Tripoli, Pennsylvania; seventeen grandchildren; two great grandchildren; one sister, Polly Jamison of Atlanta, Kansas. In addition to his wife he was preceded in death by his parents, two sons, John Quinlan and Jerry Quinlan and two brothers, Edwin Strauhs and George Strauhs.
