Billy J. Smith, 69, of Perry, Oklahoma was the son of Raymond Carroll and Thelma Fertine Beard Smith. He was born at Wichita, Kansas on November 11, 1934 and died at Baptist Hospital in Oklahoma City on Wednesday, June 30, 2004. Billy served with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers from 1955-1957. He had worked as an aircraft mechanic and had been a resident of Perry since 1993. He and Nelva Morse were married in 1978. She preceded him in death in 1991. Billy enjoyed fishing, stargazing, science and history. He was a member of the C.B. club that obtained the first Jaws of Life for the city of Arkansas City, Kansas. Graveside services will be at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, July 3, 2004 at Morris Heights Cemetery at Orlando, Oklahoma. Rev. Martin Foster will officiate. Arrangements are under direction of Brown-Dugger Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association in care of Brown-Dugger Funeral Home. Survivors are four daughters, Debra Gail McDade and her husband, Gary, of Willcox, Arizona, Tammy K. Richardson and her husband, Bill, of Orlando, Oklahoma, Sherry Lynn Hamilton and her husband, Tom, of Ponca City, Oklahoma, and Kathleen M. Schweer and her husband, Rick, of Perry, Oklahoma; two granddaughters, Shauna McDade, of Willcox, Arizona and Amanda Schweer, of Perry, Oklahoma; and two grandsons, Cary McDade, of Willcox, Arizona and Chance Schweer, of Perry, Oklahoma. In addition to his wife, his parents and two brothers, Carroll Raymond Smith and Max Edward Smith, preceded him in death.
