Beverly A. Haynes, 82, of Colorado Springs, Colorado, formerly of Perry, Oklahoma, was the daughter of Bill and Emilie R. Meier Hodges. She was born on July 20, 1926 in Ft. Smith, Arkansas and died January 30, 2009 in Colorado Springs, Colorado. On November 25, 1951, Beverly married William F. Bill Haynes III in the First Lutheran Church in Ft. Smith, Arkansas. He preceded her in death on March 29, 1998. Beverly was the first woman elected to the Perry City Council and the first woman to serve the council as president. She was a member of the Perry Memorial Hospital Auxiliary for over 35 years, served on the board of directors for the Perry Carnegie library and was a member of the Ladies Tuesday Afternoon Club. Beverly was also active in Unit Three of the Christ Lutheran Women's Missionary League, the Republican Women and sang in the Christ Lutheran Church choir. Memorial services will be 2:00 p.m. Saturday, February 7, 2009 at the Christ Lutheran Church in Perry. Rev. William Metz will officiate. Interment will be in Grace Hill Cemetery. Services are under the direction of Brown-Dugger Funeral Home in Perry. Memorials may be made to the Christ Lutheran Church or the Perry Memorial Hospital Foundation in care of Brown-Dugger Funeral Home, 1010 N. 7th Street, Perry, Oklahoma 73077. Beverly is survived by one son, W.F. Rusty Haynes IV and his wife, Peggy, of Colorado Springs, Colorado; two grandsons, Logan F. Haynes and Devon Carter Haynes, both of Colorado Springs, Colorado and eight nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Bill Haynes, parents, Bill and Emilie Hodges and one sister, LaUna Dibrell.
